My my My my
2022 Season Registration

Dear Penn Lacrosse Families,

Thank you for your patience as we are starting the 2022 Penn Lacrosse registration process later than usual. As you know we are a club sport, not a Penn sport, so all administrative duties are handled by the board. We had several seasoned board members roll off at the end of the 2021 season and the new board has been navigating all of the logistics that go into a season. Also, we had coaches step down for life-changing reasons - family, jobs, retirement etc.  A special thanks to Mike Williams who has continued to help us develop the 2022 Penn Lacrosse schedule – ensuring we will have all games in place for JV and Varsity for the start of the season in March.

COACHING:  The board has been working hard to find and hire coaches. We have reached out to countless contacts and resources and are continuing those discussions.

In lieu of having a permanent Head Coach in place yet, we are lucky to have Pete Gillin helping us out with Winter Training and planning for next season. He will serve as Interim Coach as we continue to search for our permanent Head Coach. Pete was a 3-time Monogram winner at the University of Notre Dame and played both short-stick and long-stick middie and led the Irish in ground balls during his tenure. In addition to coaching U14 teams in the Boston area, he is familiar to local lacrosse families in that he coached many of the current Penn players as the Head Coach of the Penn Junior Lacrosse program for a number of years. He is also a certified lacrosse coach through USA Lacrosse.

As we continue to crisscross the lacrosse network in search of qualified candidates, if you know of anyone interested in coaching, please have them contact me at .

REGISTRATION:  The 2022 registration link is now live. We will close registration on 12/01/2021. The fees for the 2022 season are $700 with $100 refunded to you once your family has completed the volunteer commitment of three sessions. There will be volunteer opportunities offered throughout the season. Here is the link to register:

  • $100 due at registration (and non-refundable after 12/15/21)
  • $200 due on 01/01/2022(and non-refundable after 1/15/22)
  • $200 due on 02/01/2022 (and non-refundable after 2/15/22)
  • $200 due on 03/01/2022 (and non-refundable after 3/15/22)
    • $100 will be refunded after volunteering commitment is completed

SHOULDER PADS:  For 2022 the IHSLA and US Lax are requiring NOCSAE certified shoulder pads. Attached is a picture of what the tag will look like to determine if they are certified. This is for goalies as well. From what I can tell these pads have more protection over the sternum. Also, all players are required to wear a cup.

HELMETS: The club will buy these in bulk and sell to players.  The cost is $225 per helmet. I will send an email shortly to sign up if you need to order a new helmet.  The helmet is a Gold Cascade helmet. NEW players will need to order one

GOLD SHORTS:  Due to delivery delays the Club needs to buy these in bulk and then sell to players.  The cost is $53.

  • For all RETURNING players, the gold shorts you wore last year will be fine for the 2022 season.  Only order the new gold shorts if you need another pair.

Winter Training sessions will be held at Grissom Middle School on Saturdays:  January 15 – February 26

  • 9-10 AM for 9th/10th grade
  • 10-11 AM for 11th/12th grade

We are working with local gyms to have a program players can attend for strength and agility. It is optional and will be fully managed by the gym, not the Club. More information to come.

I meet with Penn in November to schedule field use. Penn generously allows us to use their facilities but since we are a Club we have to wait until all Penn Spring sports are scheduled first.

We will begin practices the week of February 28th at the Kroc Center.

There will be an ongoing lacrosse spirit wear store so you can order at any time during the school year. I will send the link soon.

Player packs will include a hoodie, pants and 2 shooter shirts.  The cost of the player packs are included in the 2022 fees. I will send a link in December to determine sizes before ordering a pack for each player.  We may experience some delivery delays, but we should be able to distribute the items before the season begins.

We have decided to NOT do the Nelson’s chicken sales this year. The manpower it took on the part of the players, board and parents was not equal to the return. We are working on another fundraising option where players can still participate and reduce the cost of their 2022 fees.  Stay tuned.

Please check your email.  We have sent out information about banners/posters and need your response. We will be  taking pictures at Freed Field on 10/30 @ 2:00 pm
